Another day, another city in another country.
Today and for the past four days i've been crashing at Yee's place in New York!
I hadn't been feeling too well the first couple of days because of the fall out from my food poisoning episode, but luckily I've managed to overcome the gastro-intestinal troubles of late and enjoy the sights of the city.
In New York.. you don't feel like you're in a foreign land. Aside from the obvious language advantage, you've sort of seen it before, albeit on the telly or the big screen. As you walk on the streets, you notice the pavements are big and wide, the buildings reach up and pierce the sky, and the locals are loud and chirpy all of the time. Its bustling and busy, everyone living their own lives together. I also find it comforting for some reason when you see the steam from the subway rising up from the drains and roads. Odd.
So far, i've been to MoMA, ferried my way past the Statue of Liberty, walked through Chinatown and Little Italy, used the toilets in Bloomingdales (Americans keep exceptional standards of public bog hygiene!), been to Ground Zero of the WTC, strolled around Fifth Avenue, gawped at the models at Abercrombie, pretend to have gotten fired at Trump Tower, covered 1/20 of Central Park and more importantly, sampled the saliva-inducing delights of your New York Diner. And yes, pics coming soon.
Having a great time here - since Singapore, my budget has been somewhat limited so I'm going to curb my spending and try and enjoy just being here, seeing what needs to be seen and living a NY life. Another way of saying im cheap and broke, but its true!
