Belated Swedish piccies

Pedigree chums

Sorry if I got people worried that i was chronically depressed or something after my last entry - it
really wasn't intended to sound so suicidal or anything! Just had a bad day and melodramatized much of it. But it got you reading though right?

Anyway i thought it was high time i uploaded some pics from Stockholm, almost a year after I went. Yeah that was pretty bad of me to leave it so late..

Its been so long i cant even remember the names of the islands and buildings. But you werent so interested in that anyway. I remember it was incredibly, incredibly cold, even though it was lovely hazy sunshine everyday. I read it was known as a city of light - the sunshine reflects incredibly well in all the nooks and crannys - since its such a flat city, the light does make a good deal of difference, casting shadows and pockets of warmth randomly.

The architecture was classically European, with kooky colourful buildings in the old town and cobbly
narrow alleyways lined with quaint little coffeeshops and antique boutiques. There were also quite a few IKEA-like quirky furniture stores around - i bought a pair of sporks (half spoon half fork - plus a spikey knife edge)... awesome.

We walked literally everywhere - apart from the bitter cold, highly recommended for this lovely city. Unfortunately Stockholm aint cheap - i got a mint latte for about 6 euros - dare i say even more
expensive than London? But if you walk around department stores, you do see that Swedish designer-flair everywhere. Kieran went dangerously close to buying what was essentially a zip-up sweater for thermos flasks. Instead he opted to buy a wooden kitchen knife block. A far more sensible purchase.

I have far too many pictures to show here so i've clumped a few of them together (with some unashamedly bad pics of me with dishevelled appearance).

I do recommend Sweden if you're up for a relaxing, scenic but modern city where you dont frown at cute blonde guys wearing skinny jeans. The prices may not be dirt cheap but taking a decent walk around the city should be able to justify the visit itself.

At least someone's having fun

Ever get the feeling that God is laughing at you?

Let's change that a little bit.

That someone, something - up there - is laughing at you. Watching you stumble through the tedium of life, stepping on egg shells everywhere you go, hitting brick walls, scratching your head with question marks dotted all around you. And that great big omnipotent mass in the heavens, is just observing, with a smirk on their face, which just gets wider and yet more devilish as the fun progresses.

I feel like I'm an unwitting mouse in a great big maze, where my maker has already decided my fate for me, they just haven't decided to tell me about it. And everyone is in on the joke but me.

Well, I just have to laugh too. I mean from a strictly objective point of view, its a good joke - you could never quite write a novel so tainted with irony, so full of twists and turns, each more brilliant in its wit and timing than the last..
