Post holiday blues

OK, its not so bad. Yet.

Started a new role at work, so hopefully panicking about that will help me take my mind off the fact i just came back from holiday, have hardly any annual leave left (I have to take the train back on Xmas eve, its that desperate), and am no closer to a one-way ticket to Asia. Well, hopefully after a year or so in this new role I will be. Its a client-facing role working regularly with a lot of different internal departments, so I'll learn a lot and it'll add to my puny CV.

Anyway, before I forget what actually happened, I'll start off by saying I had a fantastic time on holiday. This is overlooking losing my mobile phone and oyster card, and being assaulted by a monkey (funny in retrospect, wasn't so funny at the time..).
Going back to Singapore and just walking around aimlessly, just affirmed my feelings for the place and how I'd love to work there. I thought perhaps going there so many times I'd get bored but nope...
Ho Chi Minh was interesting, and gave me a lot more perspective about different cultures. Dodging mopeds on the pavements took years off my life I swear.
It was also interesting for my stomach, which never fully recovered over the course of my remaining holiday from a dodgy midnight noodle-dash. The sight of me regurgitating my breakfast into the Mekong river just minutes after the tour guide praised its fishing qualities probably didnt do much for Vietnamese tourism.
Bali was beautiful, which is an obvious statement but needs to be said. The one thing i disliked about it was how tourism was shoved in your face everywhere you went. Idyllic rural communities in Ubud ruined with signs for 'Dolce & Gabbana Outlet 200m" and "Nice homestay! 100m"...Tourist-hungry cab drivers and shopkeepers wherever prey was within sight. Trying to stop you in the street, following you for several metres, quoting you a price 300% the going rate, and then going through the bartering process before he 'resigns' himself to an unprofitable price (yeah right)..its very mentally exhausting over the course of a day.

Anyway im going to post a bit further later about these places once i can be bothered to upload my photos. Cant believe its only been a week since I returned. I'm going to go cry or something.
