Italy. Damn you.

ITALIA 05

What do ignorant Europeans know about Italians. Well, lets revert back to the well loved conception we call the stereotype. (N.B I have unrelenting faith in the Stereotype. Whilst this allows people to make incredibly bad misconceptions about me, it also lets me off the hook when I inevitably make even more incredibly bad assumptions about them.) Well, pre-Italiano trip, I'd have said Italians were meant to be incredibly rude, incredibly good looking, with fantastic dress sense, (thereby redefining the borders of what is considered to be 'camp') with a penchant for their lovely lovely food.

Post-italiano, what can I tell you? Yes the food is that good. No, they're not actually that rude, (countless 'ciao's and 'gracie's spouted in a mock britalian accent - you can't help but be nice to such tourists) their dress sense is pretty 'fashionista' and yes, dammit they ARE that good looking. Oh, and did i mention that their continuous boasts about their beautiful country is actually, not unfounded.

To go through a painstaking description of what we did on each day we were there would be difficult, inaccurate (memory>goldfish>er..ah damn) and also probably nonconclusive, if you remember my failed attempt to recount my trip to Hungary (6months ago). Additionally, I know people would like to know my wonderful thoughts on the trip rather than spewing crap from a guidebook about the itinerary.

So in a nutshell, my maid and i - sorry, my friend and I went this way:

Rotterdam->Eindhoven->Milan->Florence->Milan->Venice->Bologna->Verona->Treviso->Brussels

And my opinion in three ickle words:

Milan-> Rich,ugly,posh
Florence->Beautiful,tasty,cultural
Venice->Attractive,monotonous,relaxed
Bologna->Red..er,red.
Verona->Nice,pretty,scenic
Treviso->Great.Hotel.Room.
Brussels->Chocolately,bit boring.

Overall, the trip was pretty damn cool - unlike my past foreign adventures, this one was planned pretty much spontaneously which was both bewildering and also rather funny. Honestly, I wonder what would have happened if I wasn't so low-maintenance. But I don't regret it for a second, the cities were mainly beautiful, the food was amazing, the goods were cheap and ok, the company wasn't bad..
